Rights Assignment

1. Freedom of speech

2. This right exists because it allows individuals to express themselves without interferences or constraints by the government. It also exists because it is fundamental to the existence of democracy and the respect of human dignity.

3. Exercising the freedom of speech means that you have the right to speak freely without being limited by anyone. For exmaple, a person could go out in the street and say "I hate cheese" and the president could not go arrest that person just because the president loves cheese. Everyone has an open mind to listen to others point of view eventhough they do not agree with it

4. Limitations of freedom of speech includes pornogrphy and "hate speech." "Hate speech" is speech that is intended to demote somebody or something based on their race, color, religion, gender, age, ethnicity, nationality, disability, language ability, social class, occupation, appearance, and/or any other distinction. There are also limitations that include things such as threatening to kill someone because it is illegal forms of speech. Basically, you could say that it is up tot the Supreme Court because if they say it a violation, then it is...you have to agree.

5. There are limitations because it is not decent to do so. You can talk about how a person is but you cannot talk about how what theyare. You can talk about their ideas and stuff if you do not agree with them but you cannot go around saying bad things about what they are because it is not respectful to them or anybody else.

6. In return, I would want a law that states that we can make and change any kind of law except for this one. But I'd rather just have freedom of speech to aviod the hastle.

Fact #5

Fact:Vast amount of glaciers and ice in Argentina has melted and is now gone

Source #1:
http://www.scidev.net/en/news/climate-change-destroying-glaciers-in-argentina.html
Once again this is a news article so there is not works cited or a list of resources like you would expect for a document or just like information on a website. But as usual, there are refrences to where they got their information from in the article itself and that is what makes the article credible. The source agrees with the fact and i do believe it because the article talks about how the climate change has impacted the glaciers because the sun is hitting on the glaciers causing it to melt gradually, but this is happening quicker than we think of because of heat getting the water and causing the glaciers around it melt even faster and that is what happened to Argentina.

Source #2:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/hi/picture_gallery/05/sci_nat_how_the_world_is_changing/html/1.stm
This is also a new article from BBC which is well known and credible site even though there are no works cited page neccessary or given by this article. But you know it is credible because of the fact that the refrences are in the article itslef. This source agrees with the fact and i beleive it because it shows very clearly why it happened, which is climate change. It is a series of 6 pages and it has pictures showing the before and after pictures and how it has changed and it gives a very visual idea which is better in this case

Source #3:
http://www.abc.net.au/science/articles/2009/02/04/2482286.htm
This is a credible website because it is a news website and like all of them, we mostly trust them and abc is among one of the most viewed website. Also, it does not have bibliography at the end but as said several times before, it has sources within the article. The source actually says that the fact is not true because it says how one of the glaciers in Argentina is going agaisnt the trend. They have recorded that it is growing almost 3 meters a day, which is a LOT for a galciers espcially because of the extreme climate change and the warmer weather. It says in the article that glaciers do not compeltely depend on the climate change which was said by a Patagonian expert from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

I believe that the fact is true because there are many other websites that mention how the Aregentine glaciers are melting and the reason for it which is the warmer climate shift and that makes sense because as there is warmer weather, the hotter it will be and it will cause the glacier to melt. Even though the alst source contradicts, you have to understand that it is only talking about one of the glaciers, and i do beleive it, but the overall glaciers are melting and that was Al Gore was talking about in the movie, instead one particular one. I believe that becuase i saw pictures and it is like a visual conformation.

Fact #4

Fact: The hottest day was recorded in 2005

Source #1:
http://hypertextbook.com/facts/2000/MichaelLevin.shtml

This source has links and other websites at the end of the article that shows where this information was found and how you can go look at it and figure stuff out. This particular document was meant jsut for the hottest temperature recorded on earth and obviously it depends on the place you live in. In the movie, Al Gore was talking about North America, obviously and according to this website it is not 2005, but infact it is 1913 at 134 degrees to be accurate. It was not clear in the movie whether Al Gore was talking about jsut the past 10 years or in ALL of the temperature but it was the second one, then that "fact" is not true accroding to this source.

Source#2:
http://www.cfnews13.com/Weather/AskJeffDay/2009/1/28/012809.html
This source is very reliable because it is a news website and even if it does not have sources at the end, it is int he weather section and they have records of the temprature from the past centuries and that will not change, thus this website is very credible even though it does not have the exact credentials like we would expect. This website also says that the fact is not true and that the hottest day recorded in America was in 1933 at 134 degrees. There is not a "why" answer to this question because it jsut is, that is what they recorded and they are the news that we trust everyday for weather and everything and we dont go asking for credentials.

Source #3:
http://www.gsfc.nasa.gov/scienceques2001/20020524.htm
This website is the goddard space flight center and this website does science question of the week and answers are given by well qualified scientists who know what they are talking about and this website is very very protected, thus even though you cannot see a bibliography per say, this is a credile website. There are also articles on the site that is about the hottest temperature that have sources listed on the bottom of the page after teh article. This source also disagrees with the fact and says that the hottest weather recorded was 1913 in Death Valley, CA and i believe this because alsmot ALL of the websites that looked through gave this exact same answer.

I do not believe this fact because i was not able to find any sources that said that the hottest day was in 2005. Infact, msot of them said it was 1913 expect for one, which is the second one on this post. I believe that the hottest day was in 1913. But i did find intresting that the second source said 1922 but the temperature they said (134 degrees) was exact same as the one at Death Valley, CA (154 degrees)....

Fact #3

Fact: U.S. is the biggest contributor of acrbon level per person

Source #1:

http://www.tamug.edu/labb/global_warming_info.htm

This article shows the various online resources that they used right on top of the article. And all of those websites are valid and not something that anybody can hack into and change, and defintely not wikipedia. This is a very credible source because the site has been sponsered and complied by the Texas A&M University's Laboratory for Applied Biotelemetry & Biotechnology. The source says that the fact is true and i do believe it because it has many visual graphs and disgrams showing the contributor of US and compraing to others and we see that US is infact the biggest contributor. It also explains the reason and explains the graph and diagram after each of them and then shows the source that they got the information from. It said taht US gave 23.8% of the contribtor and next highest one is PRC at 14.6% and taht is a big change that we need to takein consideration.

Source #2:

http://www.worldbank.org/depweb/beyond/global/chapter14.html

This website is actaully right out the book, it is like a online text that has information on global warming and this particularchapter was contributed to carbon level and stuff. So at the endof the book, there is bibliography with many diffrent sources so i think that this is a very credible source and is has been written byqualified sceintists. The source says that fact is true and i do believe it because jsut like the last source it gives information and diagrams that one country to another and where thesource was from and explaining it. The graph shows that US in the biggest contributor and it is because of our constant use of fossil fuels, which is used for electricity, gas mileage cars and many other luxeries that we enjoy.

Source #3:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/14/world/asia/14china.html?fta=y
This source does not have any sources at the bottom as most websites because it is an article from the new york times, which is a very trsuted newspaper and website. Even though there is not a bibliography, there are sources that are intergrated within the article showing where they got the information from and how they know it is valid. The source has mixed feeling about the fact. It says that china increases lead as biggest CO2 emitter but US still remains a vast lead in carbon dioxide emissions per person. I believe this source because it is the most recent one out of the all of the websites that i have looked at and it does say that US used to be the one on top but that still leaves room for more countries to come in and that is china came in. It also shows the numbers for china and how they are dependent on coal so much and that is what drove them to come on top more than US.

I believe the last source because it is most recent and that makes sense because jsut because US was on top does not mean that no other country could have come on top afterwards, the possibility is still there and that happened in the past 6 months which the others websites have not been updated on. It also shows very clearly the comparison between US and China and where they were before and how they increased and it pretty much comes down to China's use of coal and that is wy believe the last source and that US is not the biggest contributor eventhough we are in the lead CO2 emission per person, saying that it is really really high and that we could possibily become the biggest again but as of now, it is China

http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/markets/china/article2827778.ece

Fact #2

Fact: The CO2 level will go off the charts in less than 50 years.

Source #1:

http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,23590725-5009760,00.html

The website is actually a news website and there is not really a biblography per say because it is only an article that was written from information that someone got and usually they do not cite it at the end of the article. I did see many quotations and where the person got the information from and it is valid. The numbers about the CO2 leavel was taken from the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and most of the information came from correspondents from Washington. This is a very credile source because their refrences are credible and it is valid news website. The source says that the fact is true and i do believe it becuase there are many refrences to the numbers that they researched on. The amount of methane increased was by 0.5 per cent, or 27 million tonnes and the US NOAA used these numbers to estimate the future numbers and it does correspond to one another. It mentioned that the "greenhouse gas index, based on data from 60 sites around the world, showed that that last year's carbon dioxide increase added 2.4 molecules to every million molecules of air, a measurement known as parts per million, or ppm." and that was information accounted 20 years ago. Looking at the predictions that made then, it is pretty darn close the actual amount right now. It also said how the intake of CO2 has been increasing the years and if their calculations before was right, accroding the calculation and the amount of CO2 that we are using, according to Mr. Tans, who studies greenhouse gases at the laboratory, the co2 will go off charts in less than 50 years.

Source #2:

http://www.esrl.noaa.gov/gmd/ccgg/trends/co2_data_mlo.html

The source is Earth System Resreach Library and at the end of the article there are sources and acknowledgments from which the information was taken or concluded from. This is a very credible source because is a the earth system research library and that is an actual laboratory that reasearched souly on global monitaring which includes the global warming. The source says that fact is true and i believe it because it shows a graph and that pretty much shows everything about CO2 level. It also shows the predictions for the next years and past years' predictions and how close the predcitions and the real value are very close. And i really like the fact that you can visually see the prediction and real numbers which gives you better idea of how the CO2 level going to go off the charts. It also has a pragraph in the bottom explaining the graph and its meaning.

Source #3:

http://www.earthsky.org/radioshows/53014/were-in-a-co2-danger-zone-says-scientist

This article doesnot exactly have the sources at the end of documents like that a normal article because it is an article about a interview that was taken by the Earth and Sky Radios. But this is a credile source because this website shows articles and is dedicated to science realting to Earth thus called earth sky. This source also says that the fact is true and i believe it because it shows how in the interview the sceintist talks about the CO2 and jsut like the other websites, it shows how the numbers correspond with one another when it was predicted and the actual was calculated. He also talked about how the sea level is also rising and that is relatedto the number pattern that was seen in the CO2 level.

I do believe this fact because all of the websites gave evidence that CO2 level will go off the charts and espeacially the graph really explained what was going on and i knew i could believe the website because it was credible.

Fact #1

Fact: South America and Africa used to fit together.

Source #1

http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/geology/techist.html

There are 4 sources that are presented by this website and they are all books. They include:

-The New View of the Earth by Seiya Uyeda, 1978 by W.H. Freeman and Co.
-The Earth's Dynamic Systems by W. Kenneth Hamblin, 1975 by Burgess Publishing Co.
-Global Tectonics by Philip Kearey & Frederick J. Vine, 1996 by Blackwell Sciences Ltd.
-Physical Geology by Carla W. Montgomery, 1987 by Wm. C. Brown Publishers.

I reseached about these books and they are valid thus this website is credible. Also there is the fact that I found this article in UCMP's website which is the Univeristy of California Museum of Paleontology. This sources says that the fact is true and I do belive the source because they have information supporting it. Wagner, who introduced the idea of continental drift found out that the same fossilized plants and animals from the same time period were found in South America and Africa. Huge belts of rocks were found in Africa and South America were identical and not just that but they would match up if the continents were put together. Wagner's explanation was that as the continents moved, the leading edge of the continent would encounter resistance and thus compress and fold upwards forming mountains near the leading edges of the drifting continents. Fourth, there is proof that glaciers moved from Africa, through the Atlantic Ocean, and then on towards South America.

Source #2

http://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/dinosaurs/glossary/Contdrift.shtml

At the end of the website, there is a source listed and one of it includes a link to a article that was written by a professor, Wagner, at Yales-New Haven Institute. This is a credile source because it has many information and is a website dedicated learning kids and letting them know about the world and everything aorund them. It said that the fact is true and yes i believe it because they have facts supporting it. There are many diagrams and moving pictures that show very clearly what happened. It shows the proof of animal and plant fossils that were similar in both places. It also said that it was a divergent (seafloor spreading) and thus it broke apart.

Source#3

http://waynesword.palomar.edu/cntdrift.htm

This source has other sources on bottom of the website page and it shows that all of the information was taken from the copywright textbook W. P. Armstrong. This is a credile source because it is actually a well protected website kept by a teacher which means that pretty much nobody hack into it and cahnge. The source says that the fact is true and i believe it because it gave the support information as the other two websites. And this shows that the information is infact true because it overlaps. It also goes more indept with evolution and plan distribution more than continental drift (glacier exmaple).

I DO BELIVE THIS FACT !!! because it is a fact. There are so many supports and evidence that South America and Africa used to fit together, some include the fact that smae fossil plants and animals were found in both places, same conditions were tracked when tracked back long ago, and there are also the huge belt of rocks which are like tow halves of a whole when put together.

Middle East Conflict Questions: Palestine

1. Palestine got involved over land issue; this conflict was initially a political conflict that started off because of territory issue after the Ottoman Empire. Palestine was originally was a part of Ottoman Empire, but after the collapse, they became under the rule of Britain. And they tried to give Muslim land away to Jews and Zionists tried to get rid of Palestinian Arabs.
2. Palestine has been involved in this conflict for the longest time. They primarily want their land back because it originally belonged to them but the Jews of Israel took it. The Zionist movement triggered the Palestinians. Afterwards, Britain tried to control the Jewish immigration and that did not work so great and Palestine got involved in that. Some negotiations have been made but Palestine rejected them because they continued to expand settlements. Palestine wanted a state in the West Bank and the Gaza strip. The Israeli did not like this so they did not agree to this and demilitarized Palestine. Palestine did not like this. But moreover, this situation have been introduced two other parties which is involved: Fatah and Hamas. Palestine along with Syria, Jordan and Lebanon have been trying to make peace but it is not working out too well. The Palestinian team, due to Israeli objections, was initially a part of a joint Palestinian-Jordanian delegation and consisted of Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza Strip. They have also brought up another idea of peace trial through the Oslo Accords but it failed to bring about a Palestinian state. Since nothing has been working, throughout the entire issue, there have been many attacks on Israelites and Palestinians. There have been many Israel invasion attacks and vice versa and the most recent killed more than 1300 Palestinians. This issue still continues and no solution had been come up.
3. Jews of Israel because Palestine was fighting with them for the land so naturally they were the enemies. Also the British and USA, because they are aiding the Jews and promising a creation of Jewish national home.
4. Basically the entire Middle East such as Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt because they are mostly Muslim States. China and Russia indirectly support Palestine because both countries sell weapons to Iran and Iran sells weapons to Syria. Syria, in turn, gives weapons to Hamas
5. Palestine wants to be an independent Palestinian state because of their resources. Wants peace.
6. Pretty much nothing. There are citizens who are ready to attack Israel to get their independence and land.
7. Palestine will not give up anything. They believe it is their rightful land because it once did belong to them so there is no need to give anything up especially their freedom.

Reflection Questions

1. I learned about Marie Antoinette's life and how people felt about her.
2. How did Marie Antoinette's life impact the women today?
3. She impacted the for the fact that women are more free today and they do not live by the rules. She has also impacted on clothing and shoes and also there are salons that are opened in her name. Also, there are more scandals going on nowadays which initially was "came to life" by Marie Antoinette
4. Yes
5. The movie showed her entire life pretty much with only the important events to show emphasis on them because doing every single detail would make the movie FOREVER long. After every scene it had an explanation of that particualr scene and how it relates overall.
6. I think i did i great job because i worked very hard on making the movie ...acting and stuff because it was really hard to do without laughing because my friend had a mustache and like there were many other things that were funny. Also i worked VERY VERY hard on editing and getting songs for the background..like choosing the right song that went with the scene. Also makikng the slides with explanation and colors and making it pretty.
7. I could have improved on the script because we improvised. Also, going back and editing because i made a couple of mistakes and i only found that out after I made the DVD and then i could not go back for some reason because movie maker was being stupid.
8. I would not change anything on my project because i think i did a good job on it. I guess i could have changed the camera or whatever because it was not that good of a quality, also i would changed and worked on the lighting of the room because everything was too bright. So, maybe do at a diffrent time of the day and also planning out the time i have and using it wisely instead of cramming it to the end.
9. Nothing !
10. A because like i said, i worked very very very hard on this project as well as my partner too. We did it together and it was team effort. We worked together on making the movie and did a good job. Also edited the movie and put songs and stuff in and the slides.

Index Card #29

same info about marie antoinette...she started off as a rebellious queen...
-the starts were refusing to follow the proper etiquette (very helpful towards the video)... and she was unpopular and like amoung the people because she had no kids.
-even after she settled and stopped being a party animal after her first kid, the crowd did not chill...they still blamed her and disliked her.
-Diamond necklace affair made her likeability even worse...
-After the French Revolution began, she influenced Louis to resist all attempts by the National Assembly to restrict the royal prerogative.. so worked hand in hand with that
-escape attempt failed. hanged.

Imp. points that does not overlap the other information:
-She constantly sought the advice of the Austrian ambassador and attempted to influence French foreign policy in favor of Austria
-her behaivor of hugging tightly against her clique and her notorious reputation led to scandals such as the Affair of the Diamond Necklace and to rumors concerning her relations with officers of the guard and with Hans Axel Fersen.
-After the storming of the Tuileries palace, she and her husband were removed to the Temple and accused of treason

Index Card #20

This website is just the same info as the rest of the websites ..jsut like basic stuff as in her birthday and stuff...the new stuff that i found is:
-she could not have kids with her first husband and that was one of the biggest obligation of the queen and she was not able to fulfill it
-the soceity looked upon her with bitterness and accusation even though it was not her fault
-but once she had kids, she was devoted to them and looking after him
-even after that friends came first of her...she remianed in her circle of friends...kinda like a clique

LOTS OF INFORMATION !

Index Card #17

http://www.xtimeline.com/timeline/Marie-Antoinette
This is ONE OF THE BEST WEBSITES that i have found so far. It is a timeline website and have all of the important things that happened in Marie Antoinette's life and this is very very VERY helpful to me because in my movie i am pretty mcuh doing all of the important things that happened in Antoinette's life and its effect on others. So this website could work as a major source and as a refrence to go back and see if i have everything that is important in Marie Antoinette's life. It also has the event and a breif explanation of the event and it has the whole essence to it. It is a short paragraph and so i do not have sit there and read like 2 pages... it sums the main point which is what i NEED for my video because it has to creative but consice because it can't get boring. And if i need more information, i can click on the "Full details" link and it had it explained. GREA GREAT WEBSITE !!!

Index Card #14

http://www.vernonjohns.org/snuffy1186/marieant.html
This website pretty summarizes everything Antoinette was invovled and all about her life but shortned. It is a bigrpahy but not very long. It is short and to the point about all the main events that happened in her life. It is written in bullet format, so I can use this as a reference or an outline to make sure that somehow use most of the information on this and put it my video. This is a great website to look back on when doing the video to refrence back on a brief biography.

Index Card #13

http://www.probertencyclopaedia.com/cgi-bin/res.pl?keyword=Marie+Antoinette&offset=0
This is a great website on the diamond necklace scandal. At first it explains what it was and it all started with Cardinal presenting it to Antoinette through Madame de Lamotte. The first half of the article, it explains others who were involved in this, who are Jacques Necker, Jeanne Campen, and finally Marie Antoinette. In her section, it gives a breif summary about her how she became the queen and she was bornin 1755 in austria. And t hen it explains how she became a part of this affair and how it affected her. It explains what were the consequences because of her actions. It shows how the soceity reacted to her actions and this is important because it concerns my topic of how the soceity was affected by her doings and helps explain how the women these days are affected by her.

Index Card #3

http://www.pbs.org/marieantoinette/faces/antoinette.html

This is a breif article on the teen queen. It said how she had no offical role or legimate power because she was so young. Her main job was to have a male heir to take over her husband's throne. But lot of things went wrong because she wanted to be independent. Press started to go crazy with her and her and is basically a breif biography. She had her first child Marie Therese Charlotte and a boy dauphin who unfortunetly died. And more kids later on. After her husband's death, her other two children were taken away from her. Later she was convicted of treason and sexual abuse of her son in October 1793. On October 17, she was executed when was only 37 yrs old

Day 3

My action entering the day was to finish my Product Prospectus, keep doing research and do 3 index cards. I did everything that planned to do except i only did 2 index cards which I think is good. I did a lot of research about Marie Antoinette which gave me stuff about her overall so now i have background info on her which is very essential in answering my question. My next action is to keep doing research and index cards

Index Card #2

http://www.marie-antoinette.org/Articles/Entries/1997/1/1_The_Diamond_Necklace_Affair.html
This website gives a breif summary of Marie Antoinette and the events that led to the Diamond Necklace Affair. It shows us she was basically a party animal by having late night rendez-vous, gambling, masked balls, frivolous and costly lifestyle etc... and also the reasons to her lifestyle. Then it explains the two other people who were invovled in this scandal as well. It describes the necklace, the rendez-vous and what actually happened, the trial and uproar in the soceity, and how this affected the soceity and how it sparked and affected along with the French Revolution. It also explains how the Queen got beheaded because of her lifestyle and this scandal.

Index Card #1

http://www.marie-antoinette.org/Articles/Entries/1997/1/3_Marie_Antoinette%3A_A_Biography.html
This is an artcile from Marie Antoinette online and it is an article with a breif biography on Marie Antoinette. It has good background info such as she was bron to the Empressof Austria. She was married at the age of 15 to the King of France, the dauphin, to which she was not very pleased about and had a boredom life, and the article goes about explaning it and how she became the Queen of France at adolescence. Her husband was boring she was more vibratn and wanted to go out and experience the French nightlife, fashion, arts, dance and beauty. The article has a small heading such as Circle of Friends, Extravagent Life, Queen of France etc...and it gives a small summary which is very helpful. It explains how her peers led her to many scandals. She also started to think of herslef, started to enjoy life and beauty. She enjoyed fashion at a price, which was considered a taboo in that soceity. She spent lavishly on clothes and ornaments and was looked upon by the soceity. Everyone started being angry at her. Diamond Necklace Affair made it even worse (and this is explained in this website) and also how the trial went and it's impact. Then the website tells how it caused the Fall of Bastille and the march of women (which shows the reaction of the women--which is very essential in answering my question). The rest of article is more history of the nation and state and stuff more than her herself, which is what i need for this project, so it is not very important to my project really. The last 1/5th is about fall of monarchy and reign of terror and stuff. The last heading which is "The Queens Fate" has info on how the women reacted and what her fate was and how it had affected Europe.

Product Prospectus

1. How did the Marie Antoinette's lifestyle affect the women today?
2. It is going to be a video, probably movie showing Marie Antoinette's life.
3. It is going to be a video because it is fun and also we (me and my partner) think that it the best way portray Marie Antoinette's life and how it influenced everyone around her. It would also be easier because there is going to be a time gap and it would easier to capture it on tape than explaining it "live."
4. A finished product would be a complete movie which clearly demonstrates Marie Antoinette's life. It would start with background info on her, like what her lifestyle was like and what others thought of her. And it would also have how the reactiosn chaged or stayed the same as the years went by and how, if any, does it have an impact on women today. A finished product would have all these elments more or less. It may not be EXACT but this is what we are thinking more or less.
5.The final porduct would answer my research question because that is what the video is going to be about. It is understandable and self explanatory after reading the answer to #4.
6. A very broad breakdown for the project would be that we are both going to do our research and finish it around the end of february. Then we're going gather all of our data together and condense down waht we got and what we need for the project. Then, we are going to brainstorm on how to organize our video. Then shoot the video, edit it and cool stuff with it. Finally PRESENT IT !!
7. As of now, the next thing or the ongoing thing really is researching my topic.

Day 1 -- the rest

My action enetering the day was to research about Marie Antoinette's lifestyle, but there is a bit of a problem. I cannot find anything particularly on Marie Antoinette only and i do not know much about her, so I have decided to research about Marie Antoinette on general. I did a lot of researching and found out a lot of background information on her and see what led to her partying behaivor which relates to my research question. My next actions is to keep on researching and thinking about what to do for my final product and discuss it with my partner, Winnie.

Day 1 -- 02/11/08

Today I found the topic that would like to do my project, which I am doing with Winnie, on: Marie Antoinette. I was very happy that i finally found a topic. I also have my research question (which is still under work): "How did Marie Antionette's lifestyle affect the role of woman today?" -- something around that ballpark.
